Onesie fun!

If you are ever wondering what to gift a mom on her baby shower....you might want to give this a try! I attended a baby shower a week ago, and was stumped on the gift. Here was a second time mom who had everything she might ever need, and moreover, the sex of the baby was not known. What then???

By some random googling, I came across the idea of painting on onesies to personalise them. And my enthusiasm went into high gear. More googling revealed more designing ideas and I burned the midnight oil and enjoyed myself on these little white bits of cloth. The result was this...

Now I know I am going to OD on my fabric paints for awhile to come, before they finally see the end of day!

ooh, lovely. and just in time. I have a friend who is going to be a mom for the second time and this would be just perfect.

Second kids (and on) get the short end of the stick when it comes to overall enthusiasm I think. This will definitely cheer the mom up :-)

Ro : I am not very good with the brush either. But these were pretty simple to do and I refuse to believe that you cant do them!

Priya : Glad you're gonna use it. Let me know how they turned out! :)

I tried this pa. My friend in Germany had a baby and I wanted to send her something special :) The thing is that I am a lousy, pathetic artist! I wrote the baby's name in Sanskrit and painted a kolam on one of the t-shirts for an Indian look. It didn't look really neat but anyway:) I used fevicryl but I am not sure its washable:) She told me she liked it though. She's hung the t-shirts up in the nursery :)
Thanks for this wonderful idea!I had a lot of fun with it!

Hi Tharini,

Did you pre-wash the onesies before painting? What brand of fabric paint did you use? I'm organizing a baby shower for my sister this weekend and think this might be a fun activity for the guests.

Thanks,
Madhuri

Hi Madhuri...

I'm glad you're using the idea. It will be good fun! :)

1. Yes I did prewash them. This was an important step.

2. I used the regular fabric paint that you get in the store.

3. You will need to place a cardboard underneath the area to be painted. Even tape the onesie to that for a good snug, smooth surface without wrinkles for painting upon.

HTH!
