Once in a while, I just get so very tired of it all. Everything just builds up to boiling point, and I don't erupt...but I let it all spill over. I want to face the reality that is all around and see it just as it is...without any rose tinted glasses and the effort of a positive vision. I want to give it a rest just for a little bit, and just dream of a better world. Where countries are just sufficient within their own selves, providing ample opportunities for the people living within them to meet their basic needs comfortably. Where greed can somehow reverse itself and the bottom line wouldn't always be about money. Where families can learn to live together and enjoy the richness of togetherness and being a unit that is part of a whole. Where coming to work would be an extension of that unit...the same feeling of family somehow pervading that professional space, making it a personal one. Where, travel didn't cost so much, and was completely environment friendly, and all that free time left over after work could be made use of to discover the world...to discover all the things that unite us, among all the diversity, to have cultural exchanges and midnight bonfires and enchanting Maori music for instance. Where we can just enjoy, in simple, non destructive ways, the life were were put on earth to lead.
What triggered this post, you may wondered....I wondered too...for a long time yesterday, knowing that something was niggling at me ever since I came back home from a farm I had to be at for some accounting. There was a huge backyard, a small swimming pool, tall trees, overgrown grass, horses in their sheds, 3 dogs bounding all around, birds tweeting loudly, and the splash of the water as one of the children jumped into the pool, letting out a loud shriek. That scene settled deep into my bones and is responsible for this huge sigh of a post....for this is what summer is supposed to be about. Of dropping your cares and being one with the many. And this is exactly what the summer of our existence is supposed to be about.
So please....join me, for my sake, if not for yours....and tell me your vision for a beautiful world...together with our combined sighs, it just might happen!

Tharini, you have a way of reading my mind :)
I couldnt agree with you more.
I often wonder what kind of a world we're bringing our kids into. Where families, are mostly restricted to weekends!
I often feel the earlier generations had it better. True, they didnt have as many facilities. But they had a peace of mind that we lack. They had the time, that we lack. And they probably had the happiness, that eludes us.
Hey Tharini,
Have you heard of the predictions for 2012? Many swamijis in India, and even many western spiritual teachers are talking about it now. They say that there is going to be an evolutionary shift in the consciousness of earth and the entire humanity. The world will be based on coopearation, sharing and love and not on all the base emotions of these times. While I was so sceptical of these some years backc, now I have believe this is the way things are moving. Do try to read about those...

It's a mad, crazy world. And we all have our visions for a better world.
But we all have these 'moments' which help us cope with the craziness of it all. I had one such moment today. Please read my post to see what I mean...
Hugs. It'll get better, I do believe in that.
Tharini, u have moved me with your post and after having a very tough weekend, I too would like to share my dream for a perfect world.
A beautiful paradise earth, where man and animal live in peace together, where sickness and death is no more and we have plenty for all to eat and and live in harmony. Seems to good to be true, doesn't it. To tell you the truth, it is a reality for me, that this promise of a wonderful future will happen.
Here are some excerpts, that strengthens my belief. This is from the Bible." And the wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them. 7 And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull. 8 And the sucking child will certainly play upon the hole of the cobra; and upon the light aperture of a poisonous snake will a weaned child actually put his own hand. 9 They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea."
" And they will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat [their] fruitage. 22. They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full. 23. They will not toil for nothing, nor will they bring to birth for disturbance; because they are the offspring made up of the blessed ones of Jehovah, and their descendants with them. 24 And it will actually occur that before they call out I myself shall answer; while they are yet speaking, I myself shall hear."
" He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces."
And last but not the least "Just as the pouring rain descends, and the snow, from the heavens and does not return to that place, unless it actually saturates the earth and makes it produce and sprout, and seed is actually given to the sower and bread to the eater, so my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it." says Jehovah God.

Hi Tharini,
This issue of time rushing by is now a universal thing. For me summer is when work is at its peak. No time to take off. When the kids were young they went to summer camps and they loved it. Lately we have grandpa visiting in the summer so they can be home. We don’t plan anything elaborate as we are too busy with work in the summer. This is what our kids do:
Play outside with their friends in the evening, and after my work is done I sit outside and watch them play for an hour or two. They are camping out in our room for the entire summer. They started with the sleeping bags and now their mattress is in our room. They go to bed late and wake up late. Daughter is learning to knit on her own and there is yarn all over the house. They volunteer at the local library. We take them to as many activities and to the park as we can fit in to our schedule. There is coloring books and craft stuff lying all over. Little trinkets for finishing the summer reading program litter the house. Son sometimes will do craft stuff with his sister. Nothing of quality comes out of these, except for having fun. Have a few play dates and a couple of sleepovers. They purchased skate boards the first day summer vacation and have mastered it now. They eat tons of ice cream and popsicles and I keep stepping on the sticky mess they make. Right now their aunt and uncle are visiting from India for 3 weeks. Kids love it. I love it too…but my work has quadrupled with all the sight seeing and shopping that needs to be fit into the already busy schedule.
Life for me is chaos right now as I thrive on schedules. Maybe that is how our parents felt when we were having an awesome summer. But the kids tell me that it the best summer ever. They say this every summer. So from a kid’s perspective all is well. That gives me hope and satisfaction!!
